Pula Aquarium: Info for visitors

Posted by

Pula Aquarium is the largest aquarium in Croatia and one of the big attractions in Pula. It is located outside the city on a green peninsula. The building is also a sight to see, the aquarium is in an old fortress. It is a great aquarium.

The best way to get there is by car. There were plenty of parking spaces when we visited in April, and they were free of charge. However, there are barriers at the entrance to the parking spaces. In summer, parking might not be free of charge. We got a parking space directly at the entrance to the aquarium.

The sections in the Pula Aquarium include fish in the Adriatic and Mediterranean Sea, freshwater fish in Croatia, tropical fish in the sea, Amazon, cold sea like North Sea, cold countries freshwater fish and some more.

Special features Aquarium Pula

On the 2nd floor there is an exit to the roof. You have a good view in all directions, also of the sea.

There are many activities for children.

The fortress in which the aquarium is located was built when Istria belonged to Austria. It is also worth seeing inside.

Highlights include the large shark tank on the first floor and the Amazon tank on the second floor.

Those who have seen entire large aquariums such as the Genoa Aquarium, the Valencia Aquarium or the Barcelona Aquarium will be rather disappointed. The one in Pula cannot compete with such aquariums.
